Eight English Windsor Arm Chairs SOLD

A unique set of eight harlequin English Windsor arm chairs.
All having pierced Prince of Wales upper splat centering six spindles with baluster arm supports. The shaped seats are supported by baluster turned legs with well formed crinoline stretchers.
Wonderful wood color and patina to the mixture of yew-wood, elm-wood, oak and ash.

A Rare Large Folio Pair of English Coaching Paintings                                            SOLD

Each painting having the unusual scene of two large detailed coaches. One with Norwich-Cambridge coach plus Norwich-London Royal coach with hunt coach behind. The other having Norwich-London Royal coach with one other coach and Hunt coach arriving at way station / pub. Both signed lower left "J.C. Maggs - 1880, Bath". Re-framed and relined in early 1930, by D. B. Butler & Co., 126 E. 57th St. NYC

This pair of exceptionally detailed paintings by famed coaching artist J. C. Maggs (who lived on Gay Street, Bath , England) are most unusual because of their large size. Maggs seldom put two coaches in one painting- that is why the larger than normal size.

Maggs was a master of this genre and widely patronized.

A most charming set of petite French dining chairs. The set of eight side chairs having partial brass nail upholstered backs and upholstered seats. Note the choice carved finials and the well executed bobbin turned decorations on the backs. Supported by ringed turned legs with flat stretchers. Wonderful dark brown Fruitwood patina.
