Important Jacobean Oak Gateleg Table

A rare and important oval joined gateleg table of early form. With well shaped bold spiral barley twist legs and stretchers. Good thick top with wonderful mellow dark oak color and patina. Supported by full height bold vase shaped feet. English. Circa 1690.

This Table is similar in form to a table shown in an important reference book (without the central decorated stretcher) on page 311 figure 3:234. Reference:" Oak Furniture (The British Tradition) A History of Early Furniture in the British Isles and New England)." Rare diminutive dark brown oak secretary desk.
The base has a pigeon hole interior behind the slant lid.
 The top has paneled doors with a shelved interior.
All supported by a bracket foot base.

Rare Kidney Formed Tray

A wonderful scalloped edge satinwood tray.
The kidney form is unusual and seldom seen.
Fine interlaced ribbon decoration  that is emblematic of the arts is featured about the edges. Each end having brass carrying handles.

A most unique Eighteenth Century English table.
Circa 1760-1780
 Amateur architecture was a highly fashionable pursuit in the 18th Century. Inspired by architectural books and continental travel on the Grand Tour, aristocrats took an ever increasing interest in the creation / enhancement of their family seats.
